Breaker BootCamp Study Guide
A single-pole switch controls one load from one location.
It is the most common residential switch.
What It Does
A single-pole switch opens or closes a circuit by interrupting the hot conductor to a load.
It does not provide protection.
It is a control device only.
Where It’s Used
Rooms with one switch location, such as:
Bedrooms
Closets
Utility rooms
One Critical Rule
If a load needs control from more than one location, a single-pole switch is the wrong device.
Why Breaker BootCamp Teaches This
The Breaker BootCamp Study Guide teaches correct switch identification early so students don’t misapply devices in the field, allowing the Breaker BootCamp course to focus on clean installs and correct circuit logic.
